Star Wars Battlefront 3 Takes Shape, ARC Raiders Surges, and FF7 Eases Up
A new Star Wars Battlefront game is reportedly in development with Disney's approval, according to a report from TheGamer — and speculation is already turning to who might build it. Sony's Bungie has been floated as a candidate, which would mark a significant pivot for a studio still finding its footing after a turbulent few years.
ARC Raiders is having a moment. Player numbers have hit a six-month high following the release of the extraction shooter's Frozen Trails update, a notable turnaround for a game that has had a rocky road to relevance. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is also making an accessibility concession: Hard Mode will be available from the start this time, sparing players a full replay of the lengthy RPG just to reach it. And Moonlighter developer No More Robots has delayed the Steam playtest for tower defense hybrid ReVamp, citing concerns that AI tools could be used to clone the game before it officially launches.
Elsewhere in the industry, Samson developer has issued a statement following the forced closure of the studio. The Tomb Raider remake team weighed in on their approach to the source material, with the boss saying certain emotionally resonant moments from the original must be left intact. Directive 8020 added online multiplayer on PS5 just in time for Halloween, and PAYDAY: Aces High has locked in a November 5 launch date.
