GTA 6's $400 collector's edition, Diablo's long future, and Double Fine's return
Rockstar's GTA 6 collector's edition, priced at $400, is drawing sharp criticism as a symbol of escalating premium packaging in the industry — Polygon framing it as the latest and most glaring example of a troubling trend. The pricing conversation sits alongside Activision continuing to say the right things about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, including a fix that limits double XP tokens to activate only during actual matches rather than burning through idle time.
Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 seasons will keep running even after Diablo 5 launches, a notable commitment to the live-service audience that has stuck with the current game. The Path of Exile co-creator, watching from the outside, says they are tentatively hopeful that Diablo 5 will land well. Anti-DRM efforts took a hit separately, as one of Denuvo's most prominent opposition groups disbanded — a significant moment for the ongoing debate around PC game copy protection.
Double Fine's first project since parting ways with Xbox is now just two weeks from release, one of the more closely watched indie launches of the season. The Nintendo Switch has also picked up one of 2025's best-reviewed RPGs, and a Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days PC decompilation has opened the door to a potential PC port of that long-platform-locked entry. Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, meanwhile, won't get its full reveal until 2027.
